M.I.A launches web store

M.I.A has launched a web store featuring her new fashion label, Okley Run.

The collection is inspired by a 16-year-old albino boy she met while on holiday in the Caribbean, who also models some of her designs on the website. In much the same vein as her music, the fashion range is a highly eclectic mix of cultures. The hooded tops, jumpsuits and leggings utilise vibrant colours and bold prints. If you are a bonafide-bamboo-bangin fan (or not) you will still dig this.

M.I.A

SO...i just went to the M.I.A show at The Mccarren Park Pool in Brooklyn and it was amazing, not to mention one of the best venues i have ever been to (it is going to close down after this summer-unfortunately-so if you are in town and can go to a show this summer DO IT.  M.I.A is the first lady of the new urban sound and smacks the senses with an eye-frazzling riot of fluoro and pattern. Sri Lankan femcee M.I.A is one part political activist, one part cartoon character.  She is an amazing performer with the best sound I have ever heard. Spluttering electronic, early 90's style rap over hip hop, dancehall, raga and reggae beats - which all translates effortlessly into her personal style, and is an expert when it comes to getting her message across visually. I love her.
