Augustin Lesage

"Psychic automatism in its pure state, by which one proposes to express -- verbally, by means of the written word, or in any other manner -- the actual functioning of thought. Dictated by the thought, in the absence of any control exercised by reason, exempt from any aesthetic or moral concern." -Andre Breton, Manifesto of Surrealism

I am fascinated by the creative power that mental instability induces in so many "creative geniuses".  Its like a stream of unconscious processes running like an impulsive nerve from mind to medium. Spiritual French painter Augustin Lesage (1876-1954) was known to use spirituality as a medium in his work which ultimately erupted in geometric and surrealist symmetrical abstractions, all apparently guided by the voices in his head telling him what to paint and how to do so.

Our Earth as Art

This website gives you a perspective of our earth through a satellite lens.  There are no borders.  Clouds, lightning, mountains, lakes, rivers and terrains are no longer what they are perceived to be... so intricate and so inconceivably complex.  I am overwhelmed.  This is really a treat, check out their site  http://earthasart.gsfc.nasa.gov

Zena Holloway

To say that Zena Holloway's underwater photography is remarkable is an understatement.  Looking through her archive takes you on a magical subaquatic journey where fantasy, imagery, and fluid forms converge and combust in your retinal compartments.  Make sure to check out her underwater films as well.

Sun bleached, tea stained, muted gold tones, faded lavender, powdered pastels blended together like sepia tones in a old photo. . .romance and nostalgia all at once- i could go on forever. . .go ahead- eat it!
