M.I.A

SO...i just went to the M.I.A show at The Mccarren Park Pool in Brooklyn and it was amazing, not to mention one of the best venues i have ever been to (it is going to close down after this summer-unfortunately-so if you are in town and can go to a show this summer DO IT.  M.I.A is the first lady of the new urban sound and smacks the senses with an eye-frazzling riot of fluoro and pattern. Sri Lankan femcee M.I.A is one part political activist, one part cartoon character.  She is an amazing performer with the best sound I have ever heard. Spluttering electronic, early 90's style rap over hip hop, dancehall, raga and reggae beats - which all translates effortlessly into her personal style, and is an expert when it comes to getting her message across visually. I love her.

Cropped and Slouchy!

Wear high-waisted and belted for dressed-up chic, or low on the hips in slouchy jersey for a softer silhouette.

FIT BFA FASHION SHOW!

The talent exhibited at this show completely floored me-it was amazing. But i was extremely pissed off that none of the designers were acknowledged at the show, and the lack of high profile publicity that a graduate fashion show at a school like FIT can potentially receive.  Why? Why? Why?
